Busy Bee

I've actually been too busy to blog! A lot of my projects are coming to the end including my bed makeover. I just finished machine quilting the bed runner (the quilt for the very end of my bed) and just have to finish the binding.

Deonn Stott taught a great quilt and the ladies looked like they were having a lot of fun.

I have a quilt for my 2 year old all cut and ready to go. She's not a big pink girl so the red paper dolls is perfect. With the red polka dot border I think it will be very cheery. And the new "Le Petite Poulet" by American Jane is so pretty I'm using it for the big blocks so I can enjoy the beautiful floral.

I signed up for Natalia's Hobo Quilt of the Month and Deonn Stott's Mexican Star quilt so I'll have to projects to do soon.

Half way through every project I think of ways to improve. At the beginning of a project it is always a little awkward but then you "get it" and it goes together so well.

And on a side note, I got myself two new pillows from Grandin Road. They're the wool hooked rugs and they were too pretty to pass up.

Coming Up!

There are a lot of things to look forward to in the month of April. Spring, of course. YAY! I have a neighbor whose daughter chants, "Melt snow, melt," when she walks out of the front door. But also, there are a lot of fun classes coming up at Seasons of Home.

Natalia Bonner is going to teach the Hobo Quilt and you can sign up starting tommorow. The first class takes place once monthly starting April 2nd. You can do this project through the mail or in the shop but either way you will come out with a beautiful and interesting quilt. The project with book and fabric, including sashing and borders, is $105 and if you can't be with us in person, shipping charges are $36 within the United States.
Also, Deonn's Quick Stars (picture in previous post) quilt class on Tues. April 12 from 10:30-12:30. So sign up and get Deonn's expert help.

Younger Generation

I used to be the younger generation and in quilting I still considered myself one but this girl puts me to shame.

Sarah did all the pillows on the sock monkey bed and helped her mom with all the other projects. She's 13 and has a huge headstart on me.

Good job Sarah!

My sister, Marci did this great table topper out of fabric and trim she got from Seasons of Home. She whipped it out fast and it graced the table of a dinner party. She also used all of her pewter tableware that she got from Seasons of Home. She also forgot to take her camera so I did a mockup but try to not judge me for my awful photography skills.

And Deonn Stott is having a trunk show at Seasons of Home this month and here is a link for you to read a little bit about her and her wonderful quilts.

Next month she will be teaching her Quick Stars quilt and a few other classes so check out our website for a full schedule.

Oh, My, Gosh!

What a fabulously fabulous day! I finished my marathon quilt. It's a baby quilt... for my 4 year old. Well, I'm not perfect as you must be aware but I got it bound and now it's done. My son said, "For me? Really?" in a voice of such delight I practically cried. It's called crazy chicken's and stars from a block of the month over 4 years ago from a shop that closed 3 months into the project. But it was my first real attempt so I kept at it. My friend (whose quilts were in the previous post) helped me hand quilt it and I think it turned out great.

Thank you to everyone who supported me during this journey. One project down!

Fun! Fun! Fun!

My friend in Springville is a wonderful quilter and has some of the most beautiful quilts. Here are just few.
Her mother also quilts and did the most beautiful quilt out of her grandmother's handkerchiefs.

I've been wanting to make a quilt out of old hankies for years and now I have an idea of what to do. Thank you Debbie!

My sister is in town from CO and we got new purses from Seasons of Home. Nothing says I love you like matching purses.

And as a side note, Mel, you wanted to know if you could buy the block of the week mystery quilt and the answer is we have one left so if you would like it, please call Seasons of Home at (435) 654-2844. I'm so excited you love it, I love it too.

A New Season

I was in California for a week with beautiful weather and I came home refreshed and ready to tackle some projects. My grandma always inspires me to a belief that I can do everything. When I'm at her house you have to work hard, fast and finish tasks if you're going to beat her to them. She also has the most beautiful garden. So I came home and immediately started ordering plants for my vegetable garden.

I"m getting blueberries!

When I was down there I got to visit with my friend Michelle and she has been a busy bee. Both of her boys have the cutest quilts.

There is a quilt on the moda bakeshop website that I fell in love with so I'm going to print it off right now and get it done for Isabel.
