Sewing Family Fun

My cousins have been in town for the last few weeks and we've gotten quite a few projects done. Here are the highlights.

And there is almost always a child in the picture because together we have 10 and when their sister and my sister is there we had 17, give or take.

Here is Amber's first quilt. It turned out beautifully and it is at Natalia from Piece 'N Quilt as we speak!

Here is Bridget's second completed quilt from our Sisters Quilt Retreat. Her mother gave her her's because they are perfect on Bridget's daughters beds.

Here is a preview of Bridget's chosen fabrics for matching pillow shams.

Chevron Dress

Sew Serendipity pattern + Riley Blake blue Chevron fabric= Perfection.

A very good pattern with enough variations to make a few very different dresses. It fits really well and tomorrow I'm taking my niece to Seasons of Home to pick out fabric for her own. Which she will be sewing!

Tonight I'll put on the contrast bias hem and get the zipper in. Pictures of the completed dress will be posted of course.

Wagon ABC

I just made this baby quilt up and think it turned out really cute. I drew the picture for the applique wagon using Sandy Klop's border print fabric as a guide. You may not be able to see it but the background fabric is lined, like elementary children's school paper.

A Great Weekend

I had a great weekend and I feel like I have been really, really, really productive. Well, I may not deserve 3 reallys but sometimes you have to give them to yourself.

I just finished 2 of the cutest aprons. One is a pattern Ann's (my mommy) for "Grandma's Summer Apron" and it was so much fun. It's a pattern that reminds mom of her grandma and for a little bit of interest I'm actually wearing a shirtwaist dress of MY grandma's, how's that for a

The second one is from Tee Designs and was cut from an antique apron made of sack cloth with fruit redwork on the pockets.

I unfortunately don't have a picture of the original but here is my version. I tried to keep with hand embroidered style on the pocket but it is of course more modern to match the yellow chevrons.

Now, tomorrow is my second "Kid's Sewing Camp" and I'm totally excited. We just added another one in August to the schedule so come sign up! It's a lot of fun.
