Sew You Think You Can Sew?

Any one can sew which, I think, my progress bears testimony of. Lily's quilt was quilted by Natalia of Piece and Quilt. I got it bound the first night home from California. (I actually took it to CA with me along with my optimism.)

I also finished a fabulous quilt for my baby. The pattern is a free pattern from Moda Bakeshop and was so cute that I got it done within 1 month of printing the instructions of the computer. It was also pretty simple although the letters took some effort. Oh, and lesson learned, you can't do too much machine sewing with the heat-n-bond extra hold. It's very sticky and I had to change my needle when I was done with the lettering. The instructions actually tell you not to machine quilt it but I did it anyway. It worked alright but I think I'll try the lighter stuff next time.

I'm thinking having Natalia quilt a circle pattern. What do you think?

Spring Fever

Cure for Spring Fever is California. Grandma's garden is beautiful.

Easter was great.

And here's my little ladybug.

Amy Ellis

I finished my Amy Ellis quilt in this groovy floral Ann picked out for me. The quilt was so fast and easy that it literally took hours to finish. I love how it turned out.
The cutting. I used my piano's music stand to hold my book for reference.
The annoying but, I think, necessary mistakes.
1 down, 3 more to go!
Yay! So awesome!

I'm going to starch applique a few enlarged flowers in the middle and these are the colors I picked.
And Barb from Seasons of Home did an alternate colorway. It turned out so pretty!

Happy Easter

Mom made all of the girls Easter dresses and they turned out adorable.
Even in time out and ignoring me it's cute.
Lily shows them off now that she's feeling more agreeable.
Thank you Mom!

Snow and Quilts

I got my first kit for Natalia's "Hobo Quilt" class and I'm so excited. You might notice the snow outside my window. Spring Fever is an official epidemic up here in the mountains.
I've been really busy working on Seasons of Home's new website and I know it's going to be awesome but right now I'm battling the feeling that I don't know anything. I think we'll have it up and running next week but that's tentative. I still have a few more ducks to line up.
Amazingly enough the primroses outside of the shop didn't freeze. They make me happy when I see them among the snow.

Lily's Blanket

I'm almost done with Lily's quilt! I've got the border pieces cut and during quiet time for the kids (and mom) I'm going to sew them on. The next step is buying batting and minky and sending it off to Natalia Bonner to quilt. Yay! Lily is thrilled and has watched me and "helped" during the whole process. She even came into the store, Seasons of Home, and helped me carry fabric bolts to be cut. She's so cute.

John and I took a quick trip to Houston for the weekend just for fun. He had some business there and I'd never been. We would have gone to the final four if BYU had made it but...

Anyway, the flight went pretty well there, stuffing her mouth with treats or anything else you can find in your purse. The flight back by myself went even better because she had her own seat and slept!

And there's a great giveaway going on at the Sew Inspired blog so check it out.
