Country Fair, July 4th

Seasons of Home is having a Fourth of July Country Fair! I was totally inspired by Moda's Market theme this year and had to make a great sign to hang in front of the store.

My cousin Chelsea was my 2nd set of eyes and helped me with the details. She also had to be the one in the pictures because I was still in my PJs. The Country Fair goes July 1, 2, and 4. Make sure to come up!

Happy Summer Sewing

I've been having lots of fun this summer already. I've been teaching my first beginning quilting class and the class is going great. I chose to use Amy Ellis' pattern "Posie Patch" from her book "Modern Basics." We have kits in two color ways done so it was a no brainer for the ladies. This group is so great and I'm really glad they're my first class.

Laying out a quilt and finding just the right placement for each block can be time consuming but it was a lot of fun in a group. They're tops will be done on Tuesday and we'll applique the flowers.

Sew Lovely

Here are some projects Ann surprised me with today. They all turned out so great. She made one throw and one queen size quilt for my sister whose house is just getting finished and needed some great quilts for all of those beds she is going to need now. And the other is for herself and is American Janes mini-merry go rounds pattern and fabric line. Yay Mom.

The American Jane quilt is backed with hunter orange minky and is incredibly beautiful.

Rosettes

I've sewed up a few of the rosettes that were included in the ruffle dress ( I call it the cherry dress) and here are the two that I came up with. Oops, I'm playing with my new iPad. Yes, iPad! So i don't have all of my pictures. I'll have to put the other one on tomorrow. It's at Seasons of Home on the cherry dress.

Tomorrow i'm sewing up baby booties. They are toooo cute!

Sneak Peek

Here's a sneak peek at what's in store for Halloween from Seasons of Home.

That is the front and back. These are Halloween panels with great coordinates. I especially love the candy corn corners. Ooh, now I'm REALLY excited for Halloween.

I'm toying with the idea of making myself a Halloween costume. Have any of you made yourselves one? Email me a picture and I'll put it on the blog, beth@seasonsofhome.com

And there is so much new stuff in the store it's crazy. So come in and see what we've got.

Vintage Vogue

Here is another dress that I couldn't wait to make. It's from an old pattern of mom's and my oldest sister had this cute little Shirley Temple dress when she was a tot.

Honestly, I had to go curl her hair after I took a few pictures because it looked so bad (although at least it's clean!) But she, and her dress, are perfect.

Oh wait, were we speaking honestly? Well, honestly, the dress is more off a jumping of point for another one in another fabric. I was going for finished with this one, rather than perfect. This fabric is from my Grandma's stash and was perfect for a 4th of July dress. It wraps in the back and has button holes to loop the ribbon through. Now I'm thinking hair bow... We'll see what I can come up with.

4th of July COUNTRY FAIR watch out for this hellion. Seasons of Home is hosting a country fair over the 4th of July weekend, Friday, Saturday and Monday. So come on up. There will be vendors and cotton candy and quilts on display AND of course Lily will be there in her very festive new dress.

Little Girl Dress

Here are the picture for the previous post.

I was out of town for a week so I couldn't get the pictures re-downloaded so here they are, just a little late.

And the other dress just needs hemmed. I got glared at because the morning we were supposed to get in the car for a week-long vacation, my husband comes down the stairs and I'm at my sewing machine trying really hard to finish the other dress. I kept at it for another 45 minutes or so and then my conscience smote me. We left very soon after that.

Little Girl Dresses

Go ME!

I made two dresses for Lily. One was a vintage vogue pattern of my mom's and the other was a new pattern we bought for the store that I couldn't live without. I will then be getting started on matching ones for Isabel in a smaller size. And then maybe I'll do a coordinating one for me. Me and my gals.

Machine Quilting

I machine quilted my Mexican Star quilt and it went... okay. It all comes out in the wash. I love, love, love it!

My New Dress

I made this dress out of my favorite Amy Butler fabric and I think it turned out pretty well. I made up the pattern and it worked really well. I really didn't want to put up any pictures because I would have to be the one in the pictures but, here you go. It pulls on and off because the waist and neckline are elastic. It was very easy and now I have a super comfortable, pretty dress.

And that flag quilt in the background is the cutest thing ever and it's kitted up in the store. LOVE IT!
