Reversible Apron
Saturday at Seasons of Home, Tamara Ellis taught this super cute reversible apron. I used the "Domestic Diva" line that she used in her example except I used the cupcake on one side and the apron print on the other. It turned out really cute. I did have to unpick one part after I'd finished and resew it but that's life. You have to check your project before you sew, lesson learned.
"The Joy of a Beautiful Quilt"
I also wanted to share this beautiful little statue I bought myself. She's a quilting angel from Jim Shore. I love her!
Today's project is this week's mystery quilt block. I'll see you tomorrow at Natalia's class!

Inspiration
I'm INSPIRED! Winterfest at Daniel's Summit was awesome. I took two applique classes and both were totally great and the projects are something I really, really want so I'm going to stick with it. I think hand applique is kind of fun and with practice you can get pretty fast at it. I was getting frustrated looking at quilt patterns because I'm drawn to the ones with applique, so now there is no excuse to not make those fabulous quilts. That's my tiny basket, one of 200 or so. Yikes. The other is Shelly's beautiful "Blessing Baskets" that you have to see to appreciate, it's beautiful.
There was one project that Paula showed us that really got my creative juices flowing.
It's her childhood. The farm where she grew up, her neighborhood, her family, children in sleeping bags. I immediately started thinking of what I would do. It was perfect.
Also at Winterfest I bought a new sewing case. I think you can see why I couldn't resist it.

Mystery Quilt
I just got my first look at this week's block and I'm so excited!
The thrill of quilting is wonderful. I got my border finished this morning and took it around to show it off.
Barbara Brauer's Beginning Quilting class has been a big hit. It's a class for real beginners so they learn everything from the ground up. Don't miss out when this class comes around again. Let us know if you're interested and we'll get another one scheduled.
And don't forget to vote for Kathleen Whiting for McCall's Next Quilt Design Star.

Two Great Projects
Scrap bag With Bow
On January 22 from 10-12pm, Tamara Ellis will be teaching you how to make this adorable bag so come, have fun and get a great lesson and a great bag.
On January 29 Tamara Ellis will be teaching this great Reversible Apron from 10-12pm. I, personally, have been wanting to make an apron for a year, so I'll be there with a smile on my face and the fabric this apron was made with is super cute but you can pick whatever you want. This is the Riley Blake "Domestic Diva" line of fabric which has a lot more patterns to pick from, I'm thinking the cup cake print.

Beginning Quilting
BEGINNING QUILT CLASS - Barbara Brauer

Jan. 18, 20, 25, 27 10:30-12:30 am
$53.00 plus fabric
This includes a book with plenty of projects to get you comfortable with quilting and using your machine. You will be able to buy anything from the store during that time as well so if you don't have everything you need, don't worry, Barbara can send you in the right direction.
Speaking of learning from the past generation, this is a project my sisters, cousins and I did when we were young. We were all together in Heber with no real TV except "The Price Is Right" and our moms gave us this great project to do. We ranged from ages 14 down to 8 and my younger brother, who always wanted to take part was around 6. It's great to have something tangible to help you remember the fun times as kids.

Last night was Natalia's first Mystery Block of the Week class. Oh, you don't know who Natalia is? She's like, totally famous. Visit her blog Piece N Quilt to see her stuff. She has a unique and really easy way to do rough edge applique. She has a tutorial on her blog if you'd like to learn how she does it, or you should just come to her class. It's $41 and that gives you everything for the entire quilt top and at the end of 7 weeks you will have a complete and assembled quilt top. You can still sign up, Natalia would be happy to catch you up on what you missed, you should see what this girl can do with a can of starch.
Here's a picture of the block again or look at my previous post to get a close up.
