Day 3 Giveaway
Here are three friendship blocks I worked hard on last night. So far I've found the whole friendship block exchange a little difficult because it's hard to guess what someone else would choose looking at your own fabric choices. I know which way I'd go with these things but I really had to go out of my way to do it differently than I would have for myself.
This circle one was very easy because she provided a template, picture and the fabric for the circles. She specifically wanted the Adorn Line that we have at Seasons of Home and I think it'll be a super cute quilt.
Here are the three blocks pre-sewing. I think I could do more on the snowmen, but I don't want to go too far.
Now for the questions of the day, what quilt would you like to do if you have 12 other hands to help you? and if you don't have a specific quilt, what theme would you choose?
I had actually already done a snowman block for one of the contributors. It was very simple with a blue background, a plain white snowman and a snowflake, very Scandinavian if you know what I mean. The lackluster reception and another contributor's block that got rave reviews meant I had to go back to the drawing board and I produced the top block which I think will work into the quilt she had envisaged. True story.

There is one that Deb @ A colorful Life just finished and i want to make it, too! I think it will be my next project!
ReplyDeleteI follow her blog now, she has some amazing stuff.
DeleteA Christmas quilt would be good to share the work on.
ReplyDeleteNext year I will have my Christmas quilt that is still hanging in Seasons of Home. Yay!
DeletePOSTAGE STAMP QUILT! Love love love that look! Started my first one with 2.5 inch squares. Trying to decide if I want it truly want full color or use white squares in between. If I were brave, I'd use 1x1 inch squares. ;)
ReplyDeleteI have my postage stamp quilt in my head with white in between a mostly yellow assortment.
DeleteI guess I'd go with a "forest animal friends" quilt or maybe a "zoo animal friends". Twelve would be so easy because the options would be endless!
ReplyDeleteNow you have me thinking what I'd do for "forest animal friends." I love it.
DeleteDefinitely postage stamp - its like the impossible dream. I'd do mine in pinks & yellows & call it "Pink Lemonade". And I would knock myself out on a super amazing border...
ReplyDeleteI have always dreamed of my own postage stamp quilt, no joke. I love that you've already named it!
DeleteBuggy Barn quilt called Convoy. Boys would love this!
ReplyDeleteI love that one! We had one up in the store for a few months. It was too cute.
DeleteI have actually never thought about it. I have yet to participate in a block exchange. But I love your snowmen, and think that would make a cute block exchange, and hence a cute quilt.
ReplyDeleteBlock exchanges are fun but you really need to understand what a person wants if you care how they're going to receive it.
DeleteI think I might choose animals (because of how many choices there would be) or flowers. Think of all the variety there would be with flowers, and what a lovely 'bouguet' it would make! :-)
ReplyDeleteSorry about your lukewarm snowman reception. No fun to go to all the effort, and get one of those. I think both of your snowmen are really cute.
forgot to add my email! scrappymom@141.com
DeleteThanks so much and I think flowers would be a great exchange. I chose stars when it was my month because I really want a patriot type quilt for July.
DeleteI would want some kind of a 'camp' theme. Maybe toasty s'mores, tents and campfires.
ReplyDeleteTamara did that theme for hers and she got some awesome blocks. I'm hoping she gets it done and brings it soon.
DeleteIt would be a Hexagon quilt.
ReplyDeleteI adore hexagon quilts!
