And The Winner Is...

Dawn Hendrix is the winner of the Anna Griffin fat quarters. Congratulations!

I want to thank all of you for the great comments this last week. You guys are amazing! You've given me a dozen great ideas and fanned a few flames I can assure you. The postage stamp quilt numerous people mentioned has always been a dream of mine. Fifteen or more years ago Countryliving had a postage stamp quilt in one of their spreads and to this day I remember and want one exactly like it. I couldn't find the picture on their website or I would show it to you.

One lady asked about my Mexican Star quilt and here is a picture of it. She's doing one herself and I told her mine turned out great and was a lot of fun to do.

Someone else mentioned they're going to do a chevron throw and here's mine just waiting for me to decide if I want to quilt it myself or send it out.

It is actually sewn up the middle now but the most picture is on my phone and my son is quietly playing games so I'm not messing that up. Tomorrow I'll post the pattern I used to make mine if you're interested. It's really fast and easy but I think it makes a huge statement.

I just printed a star quilt pattern of moda bakeshop, I've done a quilt with applique monkeys and I now have an applique duck ready to be blown up and made into a fabulous Kaffe Fassett baby blanket.

I really appreciate you guys taking the time to answer my questions. I've really enjoyed everything you've had to say. I'll be doing another giveaway next week so keep dropping by and telling me what you think!

Day 5 Giveaway

A few of my projects from 2011
Question for Day 5: Tell me one project you're going to do this year for sure. Mine is actually 2 twin size pinwheel quilts for my son and daughter. My younger daughter, being a baby and thus just the right size for baby quilts, has plenty.

Day 3 Giveaway

Here are three friendship blocks I worked hard on last night. So far I've found the whole friendship block exchange a little difficult because it's hard to guess what someone else would choose looking at your own fabric choices. I know which way I'd go with these things but I really had to go out of my way to do it differently than I would have for myself.
This circle one was very easy because she provided a template, picture and the fabric for the circles. She specifically wanted the Adorn Line that we have at Seasons of Home and I think it'll be a super cute quilt.

Here are the three blocks pre-sewing. I think I could do more on the snowmen, but I don't want to go too far.

Now for the questions of the day, what quilt would you like to do if you have 12 other hands to help you? and if you don't have a specific quilt, what theme would you choose?

I had actually already done a snowman block for one of the contributors. It was very simple with a blue background, a plain white snowman and a snowflake, very Scandinavian if you know what I mean. The lackluster reception and another contributor's block that got rave reviews meant I had to go back to the drawing board and I produced the top block which I think will work into the quilt she had envisaged. True story.

Day 2 of the Giveaway

Here is a quilt I helped my cousin make for her new born baby boy. It was my favorite in a book called "Quilts Baby!" which is a super cute book. Lots of modern looking baby blankets. I had to add the eye and run to Seasons of Home in Midway, Utah to get the Minky but now it's ready for the quilter.

For another chance to win tell me what animal you would like to applique on a quilt. And don't forget to become a follower, make sure you leave a comment about that for an extra entry in the drawing.

Now I'm off to the quilter!

Beginning Quilting

Here are some pictures of my beginning quilting class which was a skill building class for beginners. The three ladies in the class were great and we got a lot done. Yay for quilting!

Here is the picture of one of the ladies completed blocks all laid out ready to go together.
One of the ladies did her own design for the applique block and it turned out beautiful. She was a little less than excited while she was doing it because of her rather intricate and small detailing-it was her first machine applique project- but the result was fabulous.

Tamara Ellis' Corner

Tamara Ellis has been such an inspiration to me since I started quilt and I thought I'd share of few of her finished projects here on my blog. She does a lot of samples for the store and teaches most of them as classes as well.

I've had this pillow on my project list for 6 months and of course here it is
I call this apron the Cheery Cherry Apron and I couldn't be more excited to take Tamara's class. I'm also going to pick out another fabric combo and make one for my sister-in-law Kristin. I'm sure to get a few brownie points for this one don't you think?

Seven Pails

I just finished this quilt and I can't believe how cute it turned out! The pattern is from Sandy Klop of American Jane and I used mostly her fabrics. We added the border and I think it really makes it stand out.

Now it's off to the Natalia Bonner from Piece 'N Quilt for quilting.

Happy New Year

I just got back from California and had quite a welcome. My Amaryllis bloomed! Love it!

This week I'm looking forward to finishing American Jane's bucket quilt. This will be a small quilt when it's finished with pinwheels around the outside.
Each bucket has a cute nursery rhyme or bug fussy cut. It's going to be really cute.
