A Few Things From HMQS

This will soon be made up in the store because I want it so bad. Queen sized coming right up.

Ruffle bummed romper for my 2 yr old and maybe my 5 year old. She's pretty cute, I think she can pull it off.

New and Pretty

This is my adorable new sewing desk. I'm planning a whole thing of course so I'll have more to show. I just can't get over how cute this green table is. They are available to order at Seasons of Home.

I also hung my cute little buckets from Ikea above the desk for quick to reach tools.

Inspiration

Here are a few pictures from the last week or two that have really made me want to get out my needle and floss.  My friend is making the adorable embroidered picture above that has the saying, "Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without."
This is a vintage baby pillow that one of the ladies brought to the Heber Valley Quilt Guild to show us.
This rose is from a beautiful queen size quilt my aunt has hanging in her craft room. The entire edge is the cross stitched roses. SO BEAUTIFUL!

I hope you see lot so things to inspire you this week.

The rest of us focused on a super cute ruffle purse or a fun larger purse.

Here are a few close ups.

Sisters' Quilt Retreat

We had another successful and fun sisters' quilt retreat this year.

Amber's quilt out of Basic Grey's new fabric line "PB & J".

Heidi's new quilt out of the same fabric line.

Jennifer's quilt, fabric from Mama Said Sew and she added yellow to match her house.

Those are all the quilts that were done. We focused on the log cabin but a few decided to do the easier diamond quilt (I don't have a picture if the other one but Marci did the same quilt as Heidi). Using jelly rolls of course! I also missed getting a picture of my Grandma's log cabin blocks but hers isn't finished yet. She's making a king quilt from Kaffe Fasset jelly rolls. It's beautiful so far!

Jillily Studios Open House

To say I was excited to have Jill Finley of Jillily Studios come to Seasons of Home for an open house is an understatement. I was still not prepared for how AWESOME it would be. She showed of the quilts from her new book, "Home Sweet Quilt" and they are even better in person.

Here are some pictures of the fun event.
My sister and I made cupcakes for the party and they were delicious. I candied lemon peel to put on top.

We had a big group of Jillily fans

This quilt was so cute in person and she showed us how to make all the lettering out of bias.

Her book has a lot of variety of projects. This is her wool table runner.

This queen sized quilt was a real crowd pleaser. The tulips of the bottom are beautiful.

She even has an easy curved piecing project. Tempting!

Here is Seasons of Home's Jillily Corner.

Here is Jillily's fabric line available at Seasons of Home.
She showed us "Applique the Jillily Way" and it was so good to see how the real pro does it. I'm in the process of making the cover quilt and it's a lot of applique. After the show I think I have a pretty good handle on how to make my pieces look perfect. The picture below has the quilt I'm making on the sofa. The very simple quilt on the wall... WOW. Awesome. Seeing them all in person really got me pumped.

Ghastlie's Block of The Month 3 & 5

Ghastlie's Blocks 3 & 5

Here are a few pictures to help you cut out your scenes correctly. The instructions mention a template but I decided to not include one and forgot to rewrite that section. Sorry!!!

I made a template out of freezer paper and found it the best way to get an even diamond.
My template triangle is 10" high and 10" wide. This is half of your diamond, or you could trace the whole 10 X 20 in. diamond.
Because I used wax paper, I could iron the triangle onto the first half and then trace it, I used my friction pen. Then I lined it up on the second half and traced that half.
Cut it out with scissors so you don't go into neighboring scenes unnecessarily.
